HOME ALONE in Concert heads to the Czech Republic
The beloved Christmas movie classic Home Alone, cherished by audiences around the world, will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2025. To mark this milestone, the Prague Pop Symphonics orchestra is bringing Home Alone in Concert to the Czech Republic. For the first time ever, Czech audiences will be able to enjoy a screening of the film on a large screen accompanied by a live symphonic orchestra and choir. Watching young Kevin’s adventures and his battle with the Wet Bandits will be an entirely new experience!
This unique event awaits fans on December 20, 2025, at Prague’s O2 universum. Home Alone in Concert offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the classic film in an entirely new way. Every dramatic and comedic moment on the big screen will come alive thanks to the accompaniment of 150 professional musicians on stage. The live music will add incredible depth and a whole new dimension to the story.
“I’m thrilled that we’re able to bring this exclusive experience to Czech audiences,” says Lenka Dandová, director of Prague Pop Symphonics. “Home Alone is one of the most sought-after ‘in concert’ projects worldwide, and audiences love it! During the holiday season, it fills the most prestigious concert halls, performed by major orchestras and choirs. I’m surprised no one has brought Kevin to the Czech Republic yet. Our productions are known for their originality, so we’re proud to take this first step,” she adds with a smile.
“We believe in the immense popularity of Home Alone across generations, which is why we chose this title,” explains producer Lukáš Cach. “It’s a funny Christmas classic that brings joy to the whole family. The film will be screened with the original Czech dubbing, so viewers of all ages can enjoy it. We’re confident that this experience will become the highlight of the holiday season.”
When you hear the name Home Alone, it is hard not to think of the story of young Kevin McCallister, left behind at home when his family accidentally forgets to take him on vacation. Alone, he must protect his house from two bumbling burglars. This American family comedy has become a cherished tradition in the Czech Republic, with many unable to imagine Christmas without it. The film’s iconic score, composed by the legendary John Williams, adds to its festive atmosphere. Williams’ work, including the song Somewhere in My Memory, earned him an Oscar® nomination for Best Original Score.
Prague Pop Symphonics is a dynamic young ensemble founded in 2023. Their debut project, Christmas in Hollywood, combined film music with original animations on LED screens, a light show, and theatrical effects, receiving extraordinary acclaim from audiences. With ambitious plans and a forward-looking vision, this orchestra promises even more exciting productions in the future. Stay tuned! Due to the nature of the event and the requirements of the rights holder, it is not possible to allow late arriving spectators into the hall after the event has started (the start of the film screening). It is therefore necessary to plan your arrival to the event well in advance. Late arrivals will not be allowed in the auditorium until the intermission, i.e. halfway through the film.
