A Belgian living in Canada already at the age of fourteen by singing in Brussels clubs unknowingly prepared the ground for an impressive international career. Over two million albums under the name Pure were subsequently sold in France within two years. This tremendous success earned her the New Artist of the Year award at the prestigious French gala evening Les Victoires de la Musique. She was awarded the Best Selling Artist at the World Music Awards for the song “Pure”.
Between shows in Europe, Lara often returned to New York and San Francisco to record her first album in English. She wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on this album with producers Mariah Carey, Madonna and Cher. Released by Sony Records, the album was featured in May 2000 on America’s most popular morning television program, NBC’s Today Show, and Lara has also appeared on The Tonight Show, The View, and Access Hollywood. The lead single “I Will Love Again” reached number one on the Billboard Dance Music chart and stayed there for a long 58 weeks! The songs on the album thrilled audiences around the world.
Following From Lara with Love, her first American television special on PBS, the singer-songwriter participated in a very popular radio version featuring many popular artists, including Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin and Toni Braxton.
In February 2001, the song “Love By Grace” became the central theme of the soap opera Lacos de Família, broadcast to millions of viewers in Brazil and Portugal. “Love by Grace” created an incredible frenzy around Lara Fabian.
